A vivid nightmare

I wake from a nightmare

In a haze of confusion

Pain and sadness

Darkness engulfs my soul

The dream was so vivid

I sit up

Wipe the sleep from my eyes

No, I can’t go back to bed

I will just have to get up

And busy myself

Distract myself

Until my thoughts settle.
