I tiptoe along the alley
Not wanting anyone to know I’m there
There are doors on either side
Some noise comes from behind each one
A baby’s cry
A child’s laugh
A mom singing
A dad calling out to his wife
The sounds of life, love, and family
I however
Had no family.
Each night, I’d walk this alley
Wishing, hoping
Dreaming…
Of a family.
Some day maybe
A door would open
And I’d be taken in
By a loving set of parents
Until then
A girl can only dream…
