Sally sat by the fire warming her hands.
It was a freezing cold night out there.
Her husband walked in and sat down, and they began to chat.
Suddenly a spark flew out of the fire, and landed on the rug. It immediately set the rug ablaze.
Quick, sally said to her husband, jumping up, come on, get out of the house now!
I hope they made it out in time. Perhaps they could have put out the fire.

No time to waste in that situation, get out and then call for help.

Damn!*
This is what I try for every week!
A setting that the Reader not only ‘gets’ but can identify with; a couple of characters that arouse our curiosity (“…they began to chat” some action and a resolution that leaves the door open…
Nicely done Six!
* a compliment on a story, simple yet engaging.

Thanks Claire, I appreciate the kind comment, I enjoyed making the six sentence story. It was fun to do 😜🥰

Sally and her husband (name?) were lucky they were engaged only in a chat and not creating some sparks of their own😉
