I’m really bummed.
I was meant to be going to Killarney for an overnight in October with my mom and sister and aunt.
Well, the hotel rang my sister this afternoon, they are closing to the public until next April.
They are taking in a bunch of Ukrainians.
So that’s our weekend gone down the drain, its so disappointing.
I was so looking forward to it, we all were.
Seems most of our hotels aren’t allowing the public to stay in them now. They’ve all taken in the Ukrainians and they are using them as accommodation for them.
The bigger picture though, Ukrainian lives are displaced by bombing. I know you are disappointed. I would be too. At least they’re using the building for good cops, right?

Right, I agree I mean I’m glad they are taking in the Ukrainians they need somewhere to live to especially since their country is war-torn 🙂

I know how much you love your family… I do honey. Please don’t think that I am. Comparing the two as if. Yours is less significant. Because it’s not.

I am so sorry your weekend is not going to happen but maybe you can find somewhere else to stay? Have you tried out Air B&B for example? I was rather surprised how many Ukrainians Ireland has given refuge to. When I asked here at the job center about how to get a PPS number I was surrounded by people from the Ukraine. The staff was so friendly and no matter how difficult the communication they always sorted stuff out. I am so impressed. In the UK you hardly see any Ukrainians. At least not where we used to live. A former co-worker of Andy is from Ukraine. She managed to get her dad and niece and other family members out but the UK authorities don’t help at all, so most of her family goes back to Ukraine. What does that say about the UK??? It’s heartbreaking. 🤔

I know it puts a lot of strain on all of you but my grand parents were refugees after the war and I’d rather be in a country that is kind and tries to help than shutting itself off. I hope Ireland is proud to help so much. 🤗
