Truthful Tuesday: Forgiving yourself

This week for her truthful Tuesday question, melanie asks:

How easily are you able to forgive yourself? (fill in the scenario that comes to your mind, there is no hidden meaning nor agenda intended).

Not very easily! That is the honest truth. I always beat myself up over every little thing. I am constantly saying unkind things to myself. I try to be mindful, and to watch how often I am unkind to myself, but really?

It’s a constant with me.

I want to change, but its hard. I find the concept of forgiveness towards myself hard to follow.

  1. It’s difficult to unlearn the childhood lessons of blame and shame we were taught. We were encouraged to feel like abuse was our fault, even though in our innocence there was nothing we could do to avoid it. Blessings on your journey to self-forgiveness.

  2. This reminds me of a conversation I heard in a UK series last week. An American asked the Englishman why do you always say I’m sorry? The Englishman said oh I’m sorry….😂😂😂
