So I started a new medication, I started taking it last night. I’m on 15 mg of it. Its called olanzapine. Last night I took it around 10 PM. I got a few hours of sleep, before being woken by restless leg syndrome. It was awful. I couldnt rest. My legs just wanted to keep moving. I felt as if I was crawling out of my skin. I looked up the side effects of olanzapine. This is what I found they were.

  • dizziness, feeling unsteady, or having trouble keeping your balance.
  • restlessness.
  • unusual behavior.
  • depression.
  • difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep.
  • weakness.
  • difficulty walking.
  • constipation.

So restlessness is in there. I’ll see how I go. Hoping after taking it for a few nights that the restlessness will ease up or go away permanently.
We’ll see. I think the med helped over all though. I am less anxious so far today. I am not pacing the floors. I am sitting on my recliner and I am ok to just sit here and read blogs. I am not wanting to get up and move around all of the time. Thats progress.

  1. I take olanzapine as well and I freakin love it. I sleep so well. One thing I have to say is that be careful about not switching the time of day that you take it. I decided to take it (when I was on a lower dose) during the morning so I skipped the night time med and it made me super angry. Like I can’t even describe how much anger I felt; it was scary. So I went back to taking it at night as per the doctor’s directions and am fine now. This med works amazing for me for mood stabilization. I will never stop taking it. I hope that you do as well as I have…good luck.

    1. Thanks! I hope it works for me. I’m actually on 3 antipsychotics, I also take haldol and trevicta! The trevicta and haldol both work great, so I am hopeful the olanzapine will too. Xx
