Valentines day, my thoughts?

Heres Fandango’s question.

How do you feel about Valentines Day? Do you consider it to be a special day, one where you express your deep love and appreciation for your significant other? Or is it just a commercialized Hallmark Holiday where you feel pressured to spend money on cards, flowers, candy, jewelry, and/or expensive dinners in order to stay on the good side of the one you love? Either way, what, if anything, are your plans for Valentines Day this year?

Well I do like valentines day. It has gone very commercialised though. It can also be an expensive time!
My partner and I always sent each other cards, but since she went into longterm psychiatric care we dont talk much, so I’m not even sure we’re still an item, which saddens me.
She’s in the USA, and I am in ireland, but I used to visit her a lot.
We were always really romantic, buying each other expensive perfumes, chocolates, flowers, jewelery, etc.
We would also show our love by sending soppy texts, and emails to each other.
I miss those days.
As for my plans this year for valentines day? I did not celebrate it, I felt too sad and grieved the loss of my own long distance relationship.
I’m happy for those who did celebrate it though.
