  1. I have what’s called high frequency deafness (80% hearing loss) due to working in a very loud factory for 20 years. We weren’t required to wear ear plugs until the last couple years I was there. I have constant “static” in my ears…nothing can be done about it. I’ve pretty much gotten used to it.

  2. Back many years ago when I was a teen and early 20-year-old, I listened to music very loud. I started getting tinnitus and my doctor told me that it might be permanent. It was very distracting and drove me crazy. I stopped listening to music that loud, and after several years the tinnitus went away; I was very lucky. I think of this when I see kids driving around with cars that have insanely loud stereos.
