This was a lesson I learned when I was working with cancer patients and other seriously ill people. Whether it was a house call or an office visit, I learned always to slow down and to take the time to acknowledge the session, the person and to give them a warm “good bye.” You never knew if it would be the last time you saw each other. I learned to apply that to everyone, because… stuff happens. It can be just as true for anyone. You never know when it may be your last meeting.
