Triggers follow me
Around the house
A word heard on tv
A smell in the air
A loud sound
All take me back
To a place where
I dont want to go
Back to my past
I fight to regain my composure
I fight to survive
I fight to get back to the present
Triggers are so debilitating
They leave you gasping for breath
They leave you paralysed
In fear, in fright
But I fight
With all of my might
And In the end
I break free
and I
Am free to be me

Thant’s a very profound poem, Carol. Well done. I pray that one by one your triggers might diminish and lose their power.
