#IWSG: what turns me off other peoples writing?

This is the first month of the insecure writers group and the optional question this month is:
what, as a writer, turns you away from other people’s books, makes you not finish a book or frustrates you about other people’s writing?
I dont read a lot of fiction, but if I do then the fiction I read needs to be realistic, and true to life. I dont know about you, but I like facts in a story to add up, and be real, I also like to feel a connection to the characters, if a writer cant draw me in, then I am unlikely to finish their book.
I read audio books, and one thing I do have to have is a good reader, otherwise the story doesnt hold my attention. So to those of you who are thinking about publishing your book on audible, make sure you get a good reader!
I dont like books where there are a ton of long words, which I dont know the meaning of, some books are like this, I prefer a simpler approach to writing.
How about you?
