#What do you see #57 – Birthdays

Sadje is our wonderful host of this prompt! Do check out her blog!
She says about the prompt this week:

You can write a post on your blog and create a pingback to link to the original post.

Write an original story, poem, or caption.

I will try to reblog your response on my blog.

There is no limit to words or format but keep it family-friendly.

If you post a response before next Sunday, I will be able to add it to my roundup post.

I will do a round-up next Sunday before the next Prompt is posted.

It is always helpful if you can give your post/story/poem a title.

Please tag your responses with #Whatdoyousee

Today is my 59th birthday. I have selected this image with this event in mind. Birthdays can be happy or traumatic events. They can bring joy or sadness. Go where this prompt leads you.

Does this picture inspire you to write something?

( For the visually challenged reader, the image shows a single cupcake with a lit candle on top of it)

Waiting eagerly for your responses.

Thanking you all for joining this prompt.

Another birthday has come and gone

I am a year older

But am I a year wiser?

I doubt it

Birthdays can be joyous occasions

But they can also be filled

With memories, sadness, sorrow, pain

This year, I celebrated my 40th

During the coronavirus pandemic

What a way to celebrate

I wont forget

This birthday or this year

In a hurry

I celebrated

With a family call on zoom

And a cake with candles

A Jin and tonic

in my hand

As my family all sang

Happy birthday

And remembered

My past birthdays

It was a special time for me

My 40th birthday

And I loved every minute

  1. It’s my 40th in just over a month…sure it’s going to be quite similar. But, I’m okay with that. I’d rather have a meaningful Zoom meeting with family, than an outing that will take me three days to recover from haha
