Bird sounds

This poem was inspired by the bird sounds on my echo dot, I ask alexa to play them for me when I cant sleep, and they soothe me.

They greet the new day joyfully, these birds,
Their various songs combining, merging into
A glorious song of joy and praise
In the sweetness of the morning air..

I can hear them any time I want to,
I don’t have to be out in the forest somewhere,
And these birds are only caged and contained
By the small roundness of my echo dot.

I don’t know what kinds of birds they are,
But I hear them and delight in their various sounds,
And over the phone I hear them too,
As my friend sarah and I enjoy them together.

I think about the birds, flying to find food,
Building nests and raising their young,
And I am in awe of the God who created all things
with infinite wisdom and a vast imagination.
