Update on the situation with my friend not talking to me

Ok so a little update on things with Norma. She still hasnt contacted me. I’ve tried contacting her again, my number is definitely blocked from her phone. I tried again using my landline, which isnt listed, so isnt blocked. She didnt answer the phone. I’ve tried a number of times since sunday. So then this morning I rang brenda, my supervisor from friendly call, and I asked her if Norma is answering their calls, she is. Brenda said she was fine yesterday when they called her. I told brenda she isnt answering my calls, and that sometimes she’s a little weird like that. So now I really dont know why she’s doing this or what her problem is. But you know, I have nothing to worry about, this is about her, not me. I havent done anything that would warrant her doing this to me. All I’ve done is be a good friend to her. As frances my PA said this morning, she’ll need me, and she needs me, I dont need her, so I am not going to contact her again, if she wants to contact me she can. But if she does, I’ll be definitely having it out with her about this and why she did this to me. Its not right. I mean you dont do things like that to someone who is supposed to be your good friend, right?

  1. I had a friend that I first met in 1977. We were friends for many years after that. He and his wife went out with me and Karla all the time. Then, in 2011, they stopped answering our calls. We gave up for a while, then one day I called from a different number and his wife picked up. I asked her why they were not answering our calls, and she said, in a very cold voice, “Things change,” and hung up on me. We haven’t heard from them since. My guess is that they were jealous, he had lost his good job and had to take a job that paid a lot less, then one of their cars broke and they had to park it for months since they couldn’t afford to fix it. At the same time, we were doing well and bought a new car and a house. I’m not sure why that offended them, but I think that’s it. I’m not sure though.

    1. You have a point and you might be right she could be jealous of me because I am doing well and her life is not so good and she is not doing so well but then again she doesn’t help herself either so what can you do. Well I won’t keep contacting her I’m not going to run after her if she wants to contact me it’s up to her now I’ve done my best

  2. I think you mentioned in your previous post that she has mental health issues. This may not be about you at all. Give her some space to sort herself out. I’d stop trying to contact her if I were you. She has indicated that she wants some space and being a good friend means respecting that.

  3. I get it Carol Anne.. I have a friend who contacts me then goes AWOL when I reach back to connect.. It drives me a little mad…sadly depression makes people unable to communicate. I go through this with my sister as you know.. I wont give advice. just saying I hear you xoxo

    1. Thank you sooo much Deb! I am sad, I am sad she couldn’t let me know that she might need space, or tell me exactly what I’m supposed to have done, I thought we had a good friendship…obviously not…goes to show, you really never know another person or what they might do…xoxo

      1. True.. its the lack of communication that hurts doesn’t it Carol Anne … it does make you sad.. I have cried about this with my sister so so many times. depression steals another’s capacity to enter your world or imagine you gain comfort from them .. and that is lonely and painful for the one on the receiving end and longing.
