Fandangos flash fiction challenge #87

I thought I’d participate in fandangos flash fiction prompt this week!
For the visually challenged writer, the image is of two bare, misshapen trees deep inside a forest.

Sitting by the bare trees, james shivered, he knew he was lost. He had no clue how to get out of the forrest.
Which way should he go?
He wished he could remember the route he’d taken to get to this point.
Suddenly, he saw something move. There was a russling noise in the trees.
He froze! What was it?
A figure stepped out of the shadows. James cried out in horror!
A man wielding a knife stood in front of him, menacing, threatening.
Just as the man raised the knife, a cracking sound could be heard, loud, it was oh so loud.
Suddenly, one of the bare trees fell, hitting the man with the knife and killing him instantly.
