Busy Tuesday

I’ve had quite a productive day! Very busy too!
In the morning my PA frances was here, she really is brilliant at her job. She got loads done, she has 2.5 hours, but by 10 AM she had almost everything done around the house! She mopped the floors, vacumed, did dishes, made beds, etc. She also helped me make bacon and sausages and toast for breakfast. I got turkey sausages this week, I wanted to try them out. I did like them a lot! I found that there isnt a lot of difference taste wise between them and pork sausages, to me they taste lovely and I had 3 of them this morning at breakfast time.
After finishing around the house, my PA asked me if she could walk Nitro. I wasnt dressed so didnt go with them, but she took Nitro on a walk for about half an hour. He was delighted. He loves going for walks, and even though he’s 10 now, he’s not slowing down when walking at all.
My PA left at 11:15, I let her go 15 minutes early. I figured it was the least I could do, she was so good this morning getting everything done. After she left I had to work, I had my regular call list, and then I had another list which my supervisor gave me yesterday, I am helping her out this week by calling the second list of clients for her as she’s under pressure and had nobody to do it.
Work was good. All the clients were feeling fine. 2 in particular stood out to me. One is blind, she doesnt know that I am blind, but we had a good chat about books, and audiobooks, and I was able to tell her about audible, and about how to go about joining the library for the blind. Then the second client was a wheelchair user, she was new to me, she is a new referral since the start of covid. Anyway, she has 2 dogs, and so we spent our time chatting about dogs, and she told me all about her two, and I told her all about nitro. So I was able to build up a bit of a rapport with her which was nice.
Once I finished work I made some lunch, did some reading of email, and then, you guessed it, I got tired, so lay down for a nap. I didnt nap for long, I got maybe an hour and a half, not much more. Woke up around 6 PM, watched the news, cases of covid are rising again tonight here in ireland, I really think in heindsight that our government maybe should have went to level 5, they are only prolonging the inevitable, I feel before too long they’ll have to go into a complete lockdown, especially with how things are progressing here in ireland with the virus.
How has your day been?

  1. Our lab is 15 years old and she hasn’t slowed down yet. She has lost some weight, which, so far, is good, as she was always overweight, but I’m worried that she might lose too much. She’s still eating as much as ever, but the vet says she’s at her ideal weight for the first time in nearly 10 years we’ve had her. He’s not worried, but I’m worried that she’s losing due to health problems. Maybe I just worry too much. 15 is so old for such a big dog though, I’m worried because of that.

We love Audible! We listen to it while taking car trips.

Today we went to Chicago for Karla’s 6 month Vagus Nerve Stimulator checkup. It was fine. We were away from home, mostly driving, for 10 hours for this 10-minute check. There is no doctor closer who has the equipment for this. There used to be one here in Kokomo, but she moved and started teaching at a medical school. We did stop at a pizza place and a candy factory on the way back. We got way too much candy from the gift shop. I got licorice, nonpareils, and mint patties.
