Night sounds

Open front door
step outside
into the cool night breeze
Feel the soft wind on my face
Watching Nitro do his thing
Sniffing around
Looking for a place to go pee
Eventually he finds his spot
Once he finishes
He stands by my side
Nose in the air
I wonder
What he is sniffing for
All I hear around me
Is silence
No birdsong
No rain
Nothing just my own breath
And the slam of the front door
As I walk back inside again
