Amazing phone check in with Eileen

We just got off the phone with eileen! We had a 40 minute check in call! And oh man was it so so good to finally get to talk to her!
She kept apologising for being out of work for so long. But I said to her, there’s absolutely nothing you can do about it! You have to get better, she was saying that she doesnt think she’ll be back for at least another two weeks, could even be longer than that. Of course I am disappointed about it but I just want her to get well again. She said to me, I could force myself to go back to work, but that wouldnt feel right, I want to go back and be able to give 100 percent. That made me smile. Its just so like her and something she’d want to do.
I told her she needs to stay out until she’s fully better!
We talked about insiders having memories, and she did an exercise with us where we put memories into steel boxes and flew them to the bottom of the ocean so we dont have to deal with them. That was an amazing exercise.
She told me Dr. Barry had rang her and they’d had a good chat. She said she was glad I had the support of the weekend team and sarah and dr. barry too.
We talked about the kids being afraid of the night time, and she said it sounds to her like they are triggered, and stuck in the past, not able to see where we live now. So I said I’d explain to them where we are now, and we are safe, and that maybe tonight they can watch something on netflix to help them settle.
We have another check in next week, on the 17th. Or there abouts. We arranged it for friday the 17th but eileen said if she needs to change it she’d text me to let me know.
I am so delighted we got to talk tonight. It helped calm us, ground us, and centre us. Her voice is so sootheing to us. She’s still on meds for the pain, she said she didnt realise the shingles could be so severe. I didnt realise it either! She said she literally has no energy, and she’s tired a lot of the time.
She’s been out four weeks now. But I am glad she’s taking care of herself. Thats what matters.
