Had my colcoscopy, its not good news

So this morning I saw the consultant at the colcoscopy clinic. She was a lovely lady. She was very gentle and she was very good about the fact I was disabled, she was very respectful, spoke directly to me, asking me questions etc.
After the initial questions, I asked her if she was doing any examination today. She said yes, she would be examining me, she’d be using a speculum and a magnifying glass to look at my womb and cervix.
Thank god mom was in the room with me, she was able to help me to get undressed and put on a gown, and lead me over to where the doctor would be examining me.
I had to sit in a chair, the chair tilted backwards, and my legs were in stirrups, so she could get a good look. I was terrified, but my mom held my hand while she examined me. The pain when she put the speculum up was awful, very severe, I told her it hurt but by then she was almost done looking.
She told me that it looked like there were a few abnormalities. So then she said she’d have to do a biopsy. So she used a kinda thing like a knife to scrape some cells from my cervix. I didnt really feel it when she took the biopsy, I think I was too focused on the pain of the speculum being up there.
She said that the results would be given to me in 2 to 4 weeks, all going well. They may ring me sooner. I asked them to phone me with the results, as there’s no point in them sending me out a letter when I am unable to read it myself.
I am so nervous about what might be wrong. I really dont know what the abnormalities are. She didnt give me any idea. She was quite vague.
If you pray, please pray I am ok, or if not, that its nothing too serious going on. I am going to be a wreck for the next few weeks I think.

  1. Hi Carol Anne, there are many sorts of abnormalities which aren’t serious. I had trouble with fibroids which are very painful but not dangerous. Many women have those. I wouldn’t worry until they know anything. My prayers are with you daily anyway Hugs πŸ™‹β€β™€οΈπŸ

  2. I’m sure it will be fine. I had this and had confirmed abnormalities. They simply did a brief procedure like the one you just had to burn the tissue (doesn’t hurt ) and that’s it. Try not to worry, it’ll all work out πŸ™
