  1. A few years back, an ex-boyfriend hacked into my email account and sent emails to at least thirty people in my address book telling them that I’d been diagnosed with HIV (A blatant lie) as a means to try and hurt me. These were friends, family, coworkers, professors (as I was in University at the time). It was horrible. I would consider that both trolling, and abuse.

      1. Yeah, it was a lot of explaining and a lot of difficult discussions with family members trying to convince them that I didn’t send it and it wasn’t true. That being said, I’m now someone who does not use my name for an email address, and I also have two step verification to get into it. When something like that happens, you take steps to never let it happen again.

  2. Yes, not as bad as the above, just typical jerky guys with fragile egos. After I turned them down for more dates they lashed out with nasty emails and texts. One kept it up for so long that I had to call in help to get rid of him.

  3. I was slammed on Reddit for a week once because I dared to jump into a conversation to defend the book Twilight. I just pointed out that sparkly vampires, while lame to me, is the author’s creative license, just like hairy footed hobbits in LOTR.
People went nuts, said I was comparing the writing quality of Twilight to their beloved LOTR. I was not. They got vicious. I eventually just logged off and stopped participating with a user name so now it’s an occasional read if I get truly bored.
But yeah, a week of bullying comments and angry private messages all because I defended writers’ creativity. I prefer the kind of trolls that live under bridges, much nicer than internet trolls.
