  1. They have made me both. They have made me a better person for me. Worse for everyone elves. I use to be the doormat, some call it the peacekeeper but it’s really the doormat. Now me and my kids come first no matter what I’m not changing things moving things different for no one. I’m not doing for anyone if it means changing things we have planned or is something we don’t want to do. I put up with a lot less crap from everyone. I have no problem cutting people off or telling them like it is if they are wrong. I just don’t care what people think or how they feel when I know they don’t me or mines.

  2. Both. The challenges have forced me to fully grow up and be dependent on no one but myself to get through life. But they’ve also made me wary and mistrustful of everyone except my children. I used to be much more open to new people and experiences. Now, I don’t really want to do anything ever.

  3. Wow, Carol. I am amazed by the questions you are always asking.
I think this depends on what we judge as good or bad. I think we need to get away from classifying. Because everything we experienced made us develop. It made us do more than we did before. Of course, we hopefully learn and don’t repeat what we actually don’t want to experience. But however, it all makes us grow, even though it can feel hard when it leads us to make decisions which also involves others.
I would say, all that I have faced in life made me discover myself better which again, revealed more and more of my potential… although it hasn’t made my life easier. In the meaning of your question, I dare to say: a better person.
Compliment for such a thought-provoking question, Carol!

  4. I think between growing up with battling parents, being bullied at school, then the plethora of mental health issues all combined to make me stronger and far more compassionate and empathetic. I sometimes wonder what kind of jerk I could have become had I not endured it all.
