Browned butter cookies

Browned Butter Cookies
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup margarine
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup sour cream
1 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
Browned Butter Icing (see below)
Mix together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; set aside. Combine brown sugar and margarine; beat with electric mixer on medium speed until well combined. Beat in eggs and vanilla until fluffy. Add dry ingredients to margarine mixture; stir in sour cream; mix well. Add nuts. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes; cool; frost.
Browned Butter Icing
1/4 cup butter
2 cups sifted powdered sugar
Boiling water
Heat butter until light brown in color; remove from heat. Stir in powdered sugar and enough boiling water to make icing smooth. Frost cookies immediately.
Makes 56 cookies.
