On my macbook practicing

i’m practicing typing from my mac. i have an app called mars edit. its a great app. i payed a lot for it. I havent used my mac a lot since I bought it. I really need to start practicing using it. I shouldnt rely so much on my windows pc. I am going to make it one of my goals to learn the mac. I think once I do I wont look back. I do like how fast it runs. Its awesome and super fast.  I am not sure what all I can do with this app though.  I need to figure it out.  I also need to buy some other apps. I think I’ll do that soon.  First though I need to work a little bit on using my macbook.  getting familiar with the commands as its so different from my windows pc.

  1. It’ll be some work, but well worth it!

Is there such a thing as free software for macs? I’ve only paid for two programs on my windows PC, one app on my Android phone, and none on my several Linux machines.

On the Windows machine, I have a subscription for Microsoft Office. Libre Office is free and does 99% or more of what Microsoft Office does, but there’s one add-on for Microsoft Office that I like enough to pay for it. I still might not pay, but we got a family subscription, my wife need Publisher a lot, and Libre Office doesn’t quite do what she needs there. The add-on I like for MS Office is Grammarly, I have it for my browser as well, it helps so much with my writing, both spelling, and grammar. The free version of Grammarly does all I need, so I don’t pay for the premium version. I also pay for a cloud-based backup service (Carbonite), even though I make local backups, I want the backups in the cloud just in case. It’s family as well, which is good since Karla never backs up her machine locally, she just forgets. I do wish Carbonite worked on Linux, I’ve got a few ideas for workarounds, but haven’t tried any of them yet. I do a lot of writing, coding, and drawing, I just got my monthly report and I created or edited about 2,500 files last month, out of about 125,000 files. I’d hate to lose them.

For my phone, I paid maybe a dollar for an app that supplies wallpaper and rotates a new wallpaper in every hour. I like it.
