What is your emergency?

Mike walked slowly into the room. He had heard a noise. It was coming from the loft.
Who is there? He said, is someone there?
He wondered what it was. It sounded loud. Thud, thud, thud.
His breath quickened. He also felt his pulse quicken.
Then he scoffed. Why am I scared?
I have no reason to be scared! Its probably coming from next door, not from my loft!
He decided to investigate. He grabbed his flashlight, and was just about to get the step ladder to go up there when suddenly, boom!
What was that!
Now he was sure that someone was either in his loft or on his roof, was someone trying to burgle him?
Should he get a kitchen knife?
What should he do?
He didnt have time to think about that too much thhough. The noise was getting louder!
Quickly he decided to run in to his bathroom with his mobile phone in hand, and call for help. If someone was really outside, he wasnt about to be killed, so quick as a flash, he darted to the bathroom and once inside, with quivering fingers, he dialedΒ  9 9 9.
Emergency services, a voice said, what is your emergency?
I think I am being burgled, he said quickly, I’m not sure, but I hear something or someone outside, or up in my loft, I’m pretty sure its not safe, and I am not safe.
As the operator talked, everything started to go silent, he couldnt hear noise now, was it gone? He was too scared to venture out of the bathroom to see.
