Career prep

This morning I went to the national council for the blind head office to meet my resource worker Caitriona.
We did some career preparation!
It was very interesting. We did the myers briggs personality test, and it showed me to be a protagonist. I have to say it was spot on. I do agree with it that that is my personality type.
We also did a test to see what types of career I’d be best suited to. It showed me to be suited to helping others, which I also agreed with. I definitely want to work in an area where I am helping other people. That is the main area I want to try to get a job in.
We spent a good hour doing all that. And talking things over. It was a productive session.
We’re going to do a few more sessions over the next few weeks. She may even be able to help me do a little job searching while I am waiting to get in with the job coaching service.
On that note, I recieved a letter from the job coaching service. I got a referral sent in, and they sent me a follow up letter to say I’d be waiting for at least 16 weeks to be seen by someone there.
I’m going to keep looking on job sites though while I wait. See if anything comes up and see what I can find out and if there is anything I can apply to. It cant hurt to try right?

  1. I was working with Vocational Rehabilitation here and got fed up with them and started applying for jobs one night on the Internet. I had a job the next afternoon, and it’s been going pretty well most of the time for a little over a year now. If they are going to provide training, that’s different, I was getting some free training at a really nice college from them, that was great, but I decided that I didn’t want to go into that field, just too much stress. I wish you great success!
