Question of the day

Have you ever been the victim of a crime?

Me, yes! I was a victim of a sexual assault a few times due to abusers contacting us, and of course there is also the childhood abuse I endured too, to me that all counts as a crime!

You?

  1. Yes. I was date raped in an office building in Chicago when I was 20 years old. I also had a diamond ring stolen from my home out here by a cleaning person ~ it was my grandma’s, so it couldn’t be replaced, though the cleaning company did have to compensate me somewhat after I sued them for negligence. And I was a victim of a hit and run on the freeway a couple years ago, though thankfully my insurance covered my damages and no one was hurt.

I am sorry to hear about what happened to you. So many bad people in the world. 😢

  2. Many crimes, but I’ll share a funny one here. I was attending a conference in a big city and rose early to go for a walk and get a tea. Two friends were with me, but lagging behind, deep in conversation. A man stepped out of an alleyway and demanded money and cigarettes. Stunned, I found myself laughing, and said: “Do I look like I smoke?” This disarmed him enough that I yelled out to warn my friends and ran. Luckily there was a break in traffic that filled in before he could follow.
