Lets Teach our daughters…

Let’s teach our daughters it’s not about being beautiful. Teach them to be bold. Be silly. Be strong. Be confident. Be independent and intelligent. Be brave and be fierce. Be real, in a world full of fake. Let’s redefine beauty.

  1. What pains me is that I tell my daughter constantly how gorgeous she is. I point out her good traits physically, how she has such beautiful long lashes, that cute pouty mouth, such a pretty face. I also try to lavish her with praise for her creativity, her intelligence, her bubbly personality, her writing and artwork.
In the end all it takes is one kid at school to say something bad to her and she takes that to heart as opposed to me and the family lavishing her with praise. That makes me sad that one little jerk could invalidate such a wonderful kid but it’s been going on for hundreds of years. I don’t know how to combat it but keep her from other kids and with her social butterfly status, that would not really be helpful.
I agree to focus on more than beauty, but at the same time, girls do like to feel pretty so it can’t hurt to try and bolster that, as well.
