Sister update

so a little update on my sister. She’s doing ok, but is still very upset which is normal considering what she’s gone through.

She didn’t want to get up this morning, she cried a lot, mom had to comfort her. And eventually she did get up and faced the day.

She’s staying with our mom tonight again. Her front door hasn’t been fixed yet. Her partner is organising it. But its not safe for her to go back home yet with the kids.

The police have been to their house and her partner gave them a statement. They said they didn’t think they could do much though which is sad. These thugs need to be caught. They think they can just enter someones home and do whatever they like.

I’m glad my sister has our parents house to stay in while she is going through all of this. She’s still in shock from it all. And grieving also. Her home has been invaded, her safe place where she has all of her belongings. If that happened to me I’m not sure I’d ever want to go back. So I think its so brave of her to actually go back there.

She said she thinks she’ll go back home tomorrow all going well and if the door has been secured. The kids haven’t said much about what happened. Im sure her 10 year old is thinking about it a lot. They’ve gone out this afternoon with their cousin to do the zip wire at a local park.

Thanks for all of your support and kind comments. They mean a lot to me.

  1. Poor Laura! what a shock for her. I’ve heard that there is an app you can put on your phone that can connect to your alarm system so that you can actually see what is going on at your home when you’re away from it. A friend of mine has one that is so sophisticated that he can actually see and speak to you when you’re at his house and he’s out of town, so that you can’t get away with anything. What amazes me is that the people who broke in weren’t detoured by the alarm going off. Generally, people don’t like to break into houses that have alarm systems because they know that the alarms might alert someone.

  2. Oh how awful! It’s that feeling of your own space being violated as well that is horrible. We have the right to feel safe in our own homes and I’m so sorry this has happened to your sister and her family. xx

  3. How awful. I have not read an earlier post mentioning about your sister, so first hear here.

It’s good they have a distraction away from it today, as already mentioned by ashleyleia.
I hope it won’t be difficult for all to get past this, as like you say, invasion of personal space.

I don’t know how I would react, but I would imagine whether living in the same property I was burgled in, or a different one, it would affect me in some way stay.

      1. It’s horrible, for personal space to be invaded.
I have know one time, years ago of an elderly lady that got burgled as she slept. It upset her greatly, as you will imagine.
