Sweedish Apple Cake
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons flour
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 cup water
2 tablespoons butter
1 (21 ounce) can apple pie filling
1 (2 layer size) box lemon cake mix
3 large eggs
1/3 cup oil
1 1/2 cups water
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine brown sugar, flour, nutmeg and salt in small baking dish. Gradually stir in 1 cup water. Add butter; set aside. Spread pie filling in a 13 by 9 by 2 inch pan. Combine dry cake mix, eggs, oil and 1 1/4 cups water in large mixer bowl. Mix as directed on package. Spread batter evenly over apples. Place cake and sauce in oven for 43 to 48 minutes, or until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean. To serve, spoon warm cake and apples in serving bowls and top with sauce.
