#whatif prompt 6-26-2018

the prompt for today over at what if we all cared is:
. . if 1950’s standards applied today ..

my take on it?

. . if 1950’s standards applied today ..
We’d all be able to go around with our front doors wide open, without fear, without wondering if we’ll be attacked, or killed. We’d be able to enjoy the hot weather with our front doors wide open, not have to fit locks, or have to even bother with them at all
if only today was like it was back in the 1950’s, we’d be a safer nation.

  1. I think that would be true in a lot of areas, but not all. My father grew up in Cincinnati in the 40s and early 50s. He’s told me about robberies, burglaries and street gangs in his neighborhood. True, it was still a bad neighborhood even in the 70s when I’d visit my grandparents. Some things never change. I think something from the ’50s (at least here in the US) is that one spouse working could support a family with kids. Nowadays, at least around here, both spouses have to work and things are usually really tight even then. Our city (Kokomo, IN) has several times been listed as one of the most affordable city in the US, I can only imagine what it’s like in other parts.
