Well shit, now what?

having more money wos unfortunately. got a call from our local credit union to say that my cheque, the one i cashed there recently was rejected, it came back, apparently it wouldnt clear in the bank, so now that leaves me to ring our local health executive service, who issue the cheque, and try to sort it out. meanwhile the credit union are looking for 253 euro that was the cheque amount, and also another charge of 10 euro that the bank tacked on for processing fees. of course i dont have that amount to give them, so i am frantically trying to sort it out. i rang the offices of where the cheque gets issues from, the girl who deals with it wasnt there. another lady took my number and said she’d have her call me back tomorrow afternoon, so now its a waiting game. so i rang back the credit union and told them I had to wait for a call back, but that I was sorting it. they wont wait, the credit union, they’ll want their money, I do have another monthly cheque coming on the 1st of june, but i doubt they’ll want to cash that one now that the last one had issues. so what to do, dont know really, just wait i suppose…but its a bloody nightmare…

  1. Now _that is irritating! It’s not your fault, but the fault of the issuers of the check. the credit union will just have to wait. I just can’t imagine the health service running out of money like that. It sounds like an accounting problem on their end. It would be like having your paycheck bounce when you tried to cash it. I hope they can’t get it sorted out soon. You haven’t had that problem before with this particular issuer have you?

  2. Oh man! Im so sorry to hear this. I used to work at a bank and usually if a check bounces, they will not cash a check from the same place again. I hope things are different in Ireland. You may want to tell the place where the check originated from that you need a different form of payment because the bank won’t cash anything from them anymore. Certainly a nightmare. Especially the waiting part. I wonder what happened?
