Well um this makes me think?

Some may have spent more time in the fire than others, but…

“You aren’t special.
Everyone, every damn person
that’s ever lived,
has licked the flames of hell
at some point
and returned in singed shreds.
The real question
I’d like an answer to is this:
are you using your pain as an excuse
or as a source of strength?

  1. I think it’s a reason to think and observe but not judge ourselves. I wanted to point that out. EVERYONE (barr none) makes excuses for themselves and psychologically speaking EVERYONE (barr none) returns to familiar patterns of behaviour, thinking and feeling because it is hard to retrain our brains. Feeling together, whole, resilient, OK, functioning etc… is so hard when you’ve never had it. This quote seems a little judgemental and a little lacking in compassion and psychological know-how. Only love, care, compassion, empathy etc EVER changed a person. Not judgement and shaming. We need to accept ourselves and show self-acceptance and compassion if we have any chance of shutting down negative, repetitive patterns of behaviour. It’s the only way. You cannot hate yourself into changing xx
