dr. barry

saw dr. barry this morning. it went well.
we talked about the depression and low mood.
she said she thinks something is triggering it, perhaps something that happened during the did reassessment.
i said i wasnt sure but maybe that could be it.
i told her that i am managing it for now. i didnt want to go in to the hospital. i want to try to get through it on my own, in the community.
she agreed with me. she said to keep doing the things i am doing that help me cope with it.
i said blogging had really helped me lately. that everyone on my blog had been so supportive. and so helpful with their lovely comments.
we also talked some about therapy and about insiders who havent worked with eileen before now starting to trust her and work with her. she congradulated us on that.
it was a very good appointment. i was happy to get her perspective on things.

  2. Hi Carol Anne, well done on wanting to manage this in your own way, sometimes we know what is the best approach, more so than professionals. One thing that I find helpful is to plan enjoyable activities, or ones that give you a sense of achievement. If I’m feeling really low sometimes these can help to stop the negative thoughts and lift my mood.
Hope things improve for you soon, Karen x

    1. Hi Karen! Thanks I appreciate your kind words. I am still feeling down but am trying hard to pull out of it. I am making slow progress. A little at a time is good I guess. And your right, we know our own bodies best. Professionals aren’t always right. xxx

  3. I am glad you feel comfortable with therapy. I also suffer with depression and anxiety among other things. Through my primary dr, and my kids therapy along with meds, I have more good days than bad. I hope you continue to move forward and positive thinking really helps. Also talking about your everyday stressors/ triggers help. You can always message me even if you need to vent, or shoulder to cry on…. I think is easier for me talking to outsiders, no judgement, and also no worry that your vent will go around your circle. I would love to have more support and just a ear that wont judge or tell others what’s going on with me in that moment. The whole situation could change just rethinking and speaking to another person. Whatever you decide to do, I wish you luck!
