yesterday i facilitated the members meeting at the basement club. it went really well. it was a very busy meeting. we only had an hour and there were 14 things on the agenda. we got through them though. there was one girl at the meeting who kind of monopolised things, i had to keep reminding her that she had to give other members a chance to speak. it would be one thing if what she was saying made sense, but she was just rambling and not making a lot of sense, she was very repetative. another member helped me out by letting me know when people had their hands up to speak, because the rule is that if you want to speak you have to put your hand up. overall though the meeting was good. there is so much happening at the basement club over the next few weeks. we have a social outing planned for august, to a beach. we have a planned outing to a community art space to participate in a workshop and have a tour of the building. we have a new digital skills course planned, to help people be safe online, show them how to use the internet etc safely and securely. i am thinking that i’ll participate in that, even though I already know how to use a computer. maybe there will be something that i dont know and will learn at it. the co-ordinator gave us an update yesterday on the shine organisation, there are some new managers coming on bord and a new regional development officer. that will be happening soon. we also got an update on our green ribbon garden. the green ribbon garden is a garden we’ve had for the past year and a half. its a garden where we grow vegetables, plant things, and where the public can come to talk about mental health and reduce the stigma surrounding it. its been really popular. however the local city council are selling it so it looks like we’ll have to find a new space to do our gardening. recently we had a barbecue in the garden which went really well. but at the meeting yesterday we had an update on how things are progressing with the sale of the garden. denise also thanked our most recent donors. two placdes dontated money to us recently. a local band donated 600 euro to our social fund, and a local business dontated 250 euro to the garden project. on thursday of this week some members and staff are going to a local leisure centre to play pool and quazer. i am not going though. i enjoyed facilitating the meeting a lot it gave me a sense of purpose. this morning i am at the basement club again, I am volunteering. Its my first day back volunteering. I am easing myself back into it, answering phones, and stuff.
