today is our Birthday

today is our birthday. i woke up actually forgetting it was our birthday. it was like the thought was blocked from my mind.
i’m trying to not overthink it. hoping for some part of the day to be good.
going to see dr. barry in a while, and our OT mark too.
So will have lots to write about later today.
Should also be going into the hospital today if a bed is available.

  1. I hope this birthday is better for all of you than the past. And you have at least a moment today to smile and be happy. Take care of yourselves.

  2. Hello lovely. Happy birthday! I’m sorry it is such a struggle for you. I can really appreciate that as one of my parents died by suicide on my birthday and so it is a trigger date for me too. I know it can be difficult to find people who understand why it’s so hard.
Sending you good birthday wishes, love and ((((hugs)))) xx

      1. You’re totally not alone, I get it. Birthdays are for life and it’s tough to know that the day will always have painful associations. I think the trick is to learn over time how to lessen their impact, something for therapy.
If it’s any help at all I try to reclaim the day where possible. I try to have just an hour when I acknowledge the past and painful associations of the day and I try to do good things for myself for the rest of the day.

      2. Make a list of lovely things to do for you, if you can. Perhaps things like getting your nails painted, reading favourite poems, eating favourite foods, watching favourite films or telly, speaking to favourite people who make you feel good.
Go to town with the list, really try to focus on totally spoiling yourself!
Even if you can’t manage to do much this year, your list could form the basis of your plan for next year OR you could even have a second birthday, when you feel up to it, on a day of your choice and celebrate and pamper yourself as much as humanly possible then! The Queen has an official and an unofficial birthday, why not you too? πŸ™‚ xx

  3. Happy, very happy birthday for you, Carol Anne and for all the insiders! πŸ™‚ I hope this birthday will be better than all the previous birthdays you had, the best as it can be and I warmly wish you that. I also agree that you should do what you like today, then it will maybe be easier to come through. I don’t have neither PTSD nor DID, I don’t know anyone with these disorders in person and I know only a little bit about them both, so I’ll probably never fully understand your feelings, but I’m with you. πŸ™‚
As it’s my first comment on your blog, I must say I’ve read your blog for a few days before and I really love it.
    Wishing you all the best

PS: Sorry for my ENglish if there are any mistakes. πŸ˜€ I’m still learning.
