More on volunteer positions and volunteering

so i’ve been busy trying to apply for volunteer positions. the girl who i was dealing with at the volunteer centre sent me the details of 3 different volunteer positions. and i emailed them all. the first position is friendly call. this is a service that deals with vulnerable people, people who are isolated or lonely and the elderly. the friendly call service calls them and checks in with them about their day and about how things are going for them. i hope i get accepted for this position. it sounds like something i’d really enjoy. i emailed the co-ordinator and asked her to send me an application form. then i emailed the co-ordinator of the big brother big sister programme. this programme is where you would be matched with a young person and mentor them and do fun activities with them each week for a year. i was hoping to be matched with a child or teen who has a disability. i think i’d have a lot to offer a young person who might be struggling and that is what i told them in the email isent. the last role i applied for was a youth worker. this is in my local area and i’d be working to create creative groups for young people, in creative arts, music, dance, and other outlets that are creative. i hope i get accepted to this role as it would really be a great opportunity and some years back i used to be a youth club leader for my local youth club. and i loved that so i know i’d love this role too. we shall see. will keep you posted if they get back to me.

  1. These opportunities sound great. From what I know of you through your blog, I think you could be a real asset in any of these roles. In particular, I can imagine that you would be a kind and compassionate supporter of others.
    Good luck! Keep us posted.
