I started a Stress management course

so last night i started a course in stress manageent. it is running for 8 weeks. its run by a group here called the social and health education project. it was a good course. i was nervous going to the group in case I didnt know anyone, but it turned out I knew one girl. she goes to the basement club as well so it was nice that she was part of the course and I knew her. there was 9 of us in total in the group. we did intros where we had to pair up and talk to our partner about ourselves and then we had to introduce each other to the group. then we did our hopes, expectations and fears. we broke in to groups two gropus to talk about these and then we fed it back to the group and the facilitators wrote things up on the board on a flip chart. after that we did the ground rules and an agreement for the group about confidentiality and trust and things like that. then we had a coffee break. after the break we did a grounding exercise which was really good. we were focused on our breath and noticing it. then we talked about breathing and different types of breathing. the facilitators are going to type up the hand outs for me so i will post them when i get them. we talked about stress and what stress means to us which turned out to be a really good discussion. one of the facilitators read a really good story to us about stress, written by a lecturer that taught a stress management class. the 2 and a half hours flew by. the next 7 weeks will be full of useful info I am sure. the facilitators said we are going to talk about the cycle of stress, and the wellness cycle and they said they’d be giving us tools to manage the stress. so yeah, it was a great experience and I am glad I started it.
