A MOMENT I WANT TO REMEMBER WITH MY PSYCHIATRIST

ME AND DR. BARRY HAD A SWEET CONVERSATION TODAY. IT WENT LIKE THIS.

ME: SOMETIMES ITS HARD TO SAY STUFF.
DR. BARRY: YES, IT CAN BE.
ME: I FEEL SINCE THE RUPTURE IN OUR RELATIONSHIP A COUPLE WEEKS BACK, THAT OUR RELATIONSHIP HAS GROWN STRONGER.
DR. BARRY: I DO, TOO.
ME: I’M TRYING TO ALLOW YOU TO MAKE THE CALL…ALLOW YOU TO KNOW WHAT IS RIGHT TO DO, WHEN ITS RIGHT TO DO SOMETHING MORE FOR ME THAN SEE ME AS AN OUTPATIENT, I’M TRYING TO ALLOW YOU TO KNOW WHAT IS BEST FOR ME. I TRUST YOU. I TRUST YOU TO KNOW, YOU KNOW ME WELL ENOUGH NOW AFTER 3 YEARS.
DR. BARRY. THANK YOU LIZ. I REALLY RESPECT YOU FOR SAYING THAT. I RESPECT YOUR HONESTY AND I KNOW HOW DIFFICULT IT WAS FOR YOU TO JUST SAY THAT TO ME.
ME: YEAH…IT WAS…I’M NOT GOOD WITH WORDS.
DR. BARRY: YES, BUT YOUR GETTING BETTER AT ARTICULATING THINGS. YOUR REALLY TRYING.
ME: I GUESS.
DR. BARRY: THANK YOU AGAIN. THIS CONVERSATION TOOK A LOT OF COURAGE ON YOUR PART.

I WANT TO REMEMBER THIS. ITS HUGE PROGRESS FOR ME.
LIZ
