POetry book

so yesterday i went to a meeting at the basement club. it was to put down terms and reference for the poetry book that we are publishing at the basement club next year. we decided we will launch the book on valentines day of next year. denise our co-ordinator said that at the launch we could give out heart shaped chocolates, have the media there, and have it either in the lord mayors office or else an art gallery nearby. it sounds so exciting. we picked a name for the book yesterday, it is going to be called beyond words. it will feature poetry, short stories, and free writing, from all the members of the basement club. we decided that only members of the basement club could submit pieces to it. we had to form an editorial comittee. of course we are on it lol. there is us, 2 other members, and a staff member bruno, and then the creative writing teacher. our job as an editorial committee will be to lay out the book, and make decisions about it like where to put things in the book etc. an outside person is going to pick the best submissions from all of the pieces that people submit. i think she is going to pick 30 poems, short stories and free write pieces. i can still submit our work to the book as the names will be blocked out of whose pieces were picked, only staff members will know whose pieces are going in the book. we can only submit 3 pieces each though. we need to be mindful of language, etc because we got funding from the national lottery and the hse which is our local health service, and so we need to take care of what we are going to put in the book so nobody sues us or anything like that. there is no theme, anyone can write on any topic. its so exciting. i’m really looking forward to it and i hope one of our pieces gets chosen for the book. but either way i will be looking forward to being an editor and on the editorial committee. we have six weeks to submit our pieces to the book. i think this is going to be such a cool thing to do. it will give people so much confidence because I believe that everyone has a story inside of them to share.
